Body isolation, stretching, and toning for dancers of all levels who would like to have better control of their styling and technique in Latin dances such as Salsa, Cha-cha, Rumba, Merengue and Bachata.
Make your body express rhythm as an instrument in the mirror. Great for the body and soul! Add technique and body expression to foot patterns in turn combinations for dances such as Salsa, Cha Cha, Merengue and/or Bachata. Improve your foot speed, coordination, posture and balance. Learn syncopation and how to dance on beats not normally danced-on.
The lesson starts with flexiblity and muscle isolation exercises. The second part of the class incorporates intense footwork patterns, hand movements, body
positioning, and sudden weight changes using the hips, legs,
and feet to create styling. The class teaches
a complete and thorough breakdown of every step and change
Each lesson concludes with the group practicing the basic moves learned in the class (e.g. body rolls and turns) as an open shine pattern (floor routine). Merengue/Bachata classes end with partner work.
The Latin dance steps taught in the class include Cha-cha and Merengue/Bachata; every month the class will focus on either a dance or type of movement, such as Ladies' Styling or Turn Technique. Check our online calendar to see what's being taught.
No partner necessary, open to men and women of all dance levels (except Ladies' Styling class—women only); everyone goes at their own pace.
